Hey guys! Currently in D.C for a competition...visited Arlington and the 9/11 memorial today. Rest in peace ❤️🙇🏼 Anyway, lets discuss a topic that kind of infuriates me. Double standards.
Okay so... a topic that I really wanted to discuss is bullshit called double standards. Now, we all know about the feminists and meninists and that controversy. I think its great fighting for equality, as long as it promotes FULL equality. Women and men should have equal pay, I agree. But there are some areas where men are given the short end of the stick. For example, we all know that women get raped.. Unfortunately it happens and it is really depressing. But, what people tend to forget is that men get raped too. Now, although it may not seem like much, 1 in 10 rape victims are men. That number is TOO HIGH. (Any number of rapes is too high). For example, I was reading a tweet the other day. In the tweet the woman was asking how she could get her boyfriend drunk (he didn't drink) and into bed with her. Now if a man had posted that tweet, odds are people would be calling the police and would assume he was trying to rape the woman. If that woman got her boyfriend drunk, he is under the influence and CANNOT GIVE VALID CONSENT. Ladies, please remember that men aren't as strong as we think they are sometimes and they should receive the same level of recognition when it comes to rape.
Another double standard that gets on my nerves is the fact that men aren't judged for having their shirts off while if a woman does she is called a slut. It really doesn't make sense. Men have nipples, woman have nipples. They are a natural part of a human body and the fact that they are viewed as sexual is ridiculous. Women's bodies are celebrated in many cultures, their naked form admired for its beauty.
Another double standard that gets on my nerves is the fact that men are celebrated for having sex with multiple women. While if a woman has had sex with multiple partners, or even just one, she is called out for being a whore or slut. People say that a girl who has had sex multiple times probably has STD's. The cruel and irrational comments I've heard about women and THEIR sexual history makes me seriously fear for our nation.
If you think of any more pressing double standards, please feel free to comment below or email me.
